Motivation doesn’t come uninvited. Sometimes, you have to sometimes go after it with a club. But thankfully it’s not that hard to motivate yourself.

Say it with me: It’s only as hard or easy as you make it to be.

I’ve had days where I lazed the whole day because I couldn’t make up my mind about what to do. Or just what to do first. I used to start with one, then stop it half way and start something else, get bored even with that and do something else. Only to be left with a bunch of unfinished tasks and unfulfilling day.

Later I devised a secret hack. It’s so simple that you’d laugh at me for even mentioning it. But trust me it works.

Just do one task at a time and finish it. Only then start another task. Simple?! But it’s not often that we get bogged down and procrastination makes us kneel down at its feet and makes us put off things atleast for a day.

So I have a little checklist that helps me to start the motivation engine, right away. This checklist has evolved over a decade and I’m sure it’s going to keep evolving.
